Predicting the Oscar Nominations 5 Months, 4 Weeks ago Karma: 7
This thread discusses the Content article: Predicting the Oscar Nominations

Kit, great to read your predictions, and welcome to the team, btw!

I'm surprised to see District 9 among your best picture nominees. The conventional wisdom seems to be that the extra five slots will be reserved for more crowd-pleasing fare, and don't get me wrong -- I enjoyed D9, but do you forsee that the Academy will use one of these new slots for that movie?

On a related note: Any thoughts out there on the 10-nominee experiment? Will it over-dilute the category?

Love the list, especially the top 10 for Best Pic. It would be very, very interesting if The Hangover snuck I . I'm just thinking of a weird alternate universe where Academy members actually voted for the film they ENJOYED the most, and The Hangover took home top prize. I would love it!

Didn't see The Dark Knight on your list. I think that might slip into the top 10.

Man, Kit called it. D9's in there. Good to see an animated flick in the best picture category again, even if it is 10 titles large.

Man, I feel stupid...TDK was LAST year, wasn't it? My only defense is that I was very, very tired when I wrote that post. LOL!

Ten best picture nominees?

Really, they couldn't do with nine and drop that pretentious piece of crap, Avatar?

Once again, Oscar night will vex me, but I'm pulling for Christoph Waltz (Inglourious Basterds) Supporting Actor, Sandra Bullock (The Blind SIde) Lead Actress, and any film other than Avatar in Best Picture.

Will I shoot my TV this year?
Find out on March 7th!
