Former Secretary of State Henry Kissinger. I mean, the spectral opposite of that. Two things have prompted this little list of mine. The first is that for the last year, one of the posts I have done on my own blog has been the piece I did on Tom Tykwer, when I named him the 77th best director of all-time, receiving over 20,000 hits. At first glance you would think, wow there are a lot of Run Lola Run fans out there. But the answer is that a lot of guys out there Google Rachel Hurd-Wood (the star of Perfume) all the time. I mean, ALL THE TIME. Some days, when it cycles right through Google I'll get 300 hits a day. It's a bit disturbing because while she is stunningly beautiful in the picture, she was also barely 15 when it was taken. Still, people search for it. |

As Science Week draws to a close, CC2K Editor Tony Lazlo takes a look at some of the best mad scientists who could actually be mistaken for scientists.
An astute cartoonist once observed that most so-called mad scientists are actually just mad engineers. You can see the original comic here, but the gist is this: A mad scientist proclaims that he’s invented a death ray. A nameless troublemaker asks him if he’s testing any mad hypotheses with mad experiments and mad control groups. Good stuff. That comic served as the inspiration for this list, in which I assemble the best mad scientists from pop-culture who actually act like scientists. They conduct experiments. They record data. And they’re fucking bonkers.

Every Sex Week, the staff members here at CC2K get together and reminisce about the greatest nude scenes of our youths. We've done it before. We did it again. And this year, we've got five more hot recollections from our Skinemax-watching glory days, including our first all-male nude scene. So read on, CC2K'ers, and as Jayne Cobb might say, we'll be in our bunk.

CC2K's Brett Williams revisits one of his most popular articles to determine which Hollywood hotties trump fidelity.
Last year I wrote an article about the five guys and the five girls that your geek significant other is morally obligated to allow you to sleep with in the unlikely instance that said people ever want to sleep with you. While the article was popular, certain choices never sat that well with me. So now, as the end of 2009 draws close, I've decided to revisit that list. Without further ado, here are the ten NEW geeks your significant other is morally obligated to ... oh, you get it. Enjoy! |

Remember Julie Warner emerging from the water in Doc Hollywood? So does CC2K's Rob Van Winkle, who guides us through the seminal nude scenes of the 80s and 90s.
One of the biggest remaining mysteries in biology is the phenomenon of puberty. In a few short months, our chief opinion about the opposite sex flips from “disgusting” to “delicious” – but why? Or how? At what quantifiable point does middle-school stardom shift from the kid with the coolest bike to the kid with the biggest stash of Playboys? Paradoxically, this shift strikes me as simultaneously instant and gradual – one day you wake up, and it feels like you’ve always felt that way. We may never fully explain it, but I’ll tell you one thing: those first few nude scenes you see in the movies sure do speed that process up.
