Album Review: Random’s Forever Famicom Print E-mail
Written by Alejandro Rodriguez, Special to CC2K

ImageRandom (also commonly known as MegaRan) isn’t you’re typical hip-hop artist. In a world where most mainstream hip-hop artists have mostly sold out or became lazy about the things they rap about, Random has stayed true to who he is as an individual. While there are many things that make his music stand out from the rest, his most shining trait is that at the end of the day he could be just a regular person like you or I. Hell, he could probably even be a teacher. It’s important to note that Random did not create Forever Famicom on his own. Producer and radio host K-Murdock helped create the project over a two year time period. A time well spent.

April Fools Week: Stepping into Justin Bieber’s Pre-Pubescent World Print E-mail
Written by Joseph Randazzo, Special to CC2K
ImageTo give you a little context here, before I play this CD (or collection of MP3s as it were) I have been listening to my Sinatra/Crosby/Buble playlist. Why? Because even though I am not yet thirty, at heart I am an old bitter little man.  I barely know who Lady Gaga is, so to say that I have no idea what I am stepping into is an understatement.

Public Enemy - Live at Lisner 11/18/09 Print E-mail
Written by Russell Davidson, CC2K Sports Editor

ImageSo what’s that noise? A bird? A plane? No, it’s just legendary hip-hop/rap group Public Enemy heading down the street on the back of a flat-bed truck, belting out their best jams. A drug-induced hallucination, you wonder? No, not this time. This really happened.

Advance Review: Them Crooked Vultures (Self-Titled) Print E-mail
Written by Stephen Kondracki, Special to CC2K

ImageFresh off the timely announcement that the Foo Fighters are taking an indefinite hiatus, Dave Grohl is returning to a familiar spot behind the drum kit with the newest supergroup on the rock scene, Them Crooked Vultures. The unsurprising duo of Grohl on drums and Queens of the Stone Age frontman Josh Homme has teamed up with the more unlikely addition of Led Zeppelin bass player/rock god John Paul Jones for what amounts to a curious but fitting musical mash-up, with wet-dream-inducing potential.

Album Review: Love 2 by Air Print E-mail
Written by Sherryn Daniel, Special to CC2K

ImageLove 2
is the sixth studio album from Nicholas Godin and Jean-Benoît Dunckel, the French duo that comprises Air, whose name is a backronym for "amour, imagination and rêve," which translate to love, imagination and dream, and those last two elements — imagination and dreams — act as underlying themes for most of their work, especially Love 2.
